The endogenous creatinine clearance in normal subjects.

چکیده
In normal subjects the glomerular filtration rate is relatively constant under standard conditions, and there is little or no change when the urine flow 'aries. It follows from this that the excretion rate of substances, which are filtered at the glomerulus and neither reabsorbed from nor secreted into the tubules, is constant. It is these substances which can be used to measure the filtration rate. There is considerable evidence that endogenous creatinine behaves in this way, and this is supported by the data presented in this paper, which show that its excretion is very constant in spite of considerable variations in urine flow, only decreasing slightly at low urine volumes.

Age adjusted creatinine clearance in normal subjects and in patients with renal disorders.
Serum creatinine, urinary creatinine and endogenous creatinine clearance were measured in various age groups in normal subjects and in those suffering from renal disorders. Serum creatinine was found to be significantly high in cases of chronic renal failure and renal hypertension. Serum and urinary creatinine levels in normal subjects were found to vary with the age. متن کاملRenal handling of creatinine in nephrotic and non-nephrotic patients.
1. The endogenous creatinine/GFR (inulin or free [s7Co]cyanocobalamin or ['Z51]iothalamate) clearance ratios were determined in ninety-nine non-nephrotic patients and subjects and in sixteen nephrotic patients. The clearance ratios of the nephrotic patients were not significantly different from those of the non-nephrotic patients and normal subjects. 2. The clearance ratios increased as the GFR...
متن کاملTubular reabsorption of calcium in normal and hypercalciuric subjects.
Tubular reabsorption and excretion of calcium were studied at different levels of filtered calcium by means of calcium infusion in normal and hypercalciuric subjects and in patients with idiopathic nephrolithiasis. Calcium reabsorption and excretion rose linearly with filtered load and in no case was a maximum tubular reabsorptive capacity for calcium reached. No decrease in tubular reabsorptio...
متن کاملUrinary and metabolic clearances of arginine vasopressin in normal subjects.
Synthetic arginine vasopressin (AVP) was infused into 11 hydrated normal subjects at five different infusion rates ranging from 10 to 350 microU X kg-1 X min-1. Each infusion rate was continued for 1 h, and urinary determinations were made on the 30- to 60-min specimens during which time there was no further rise in plasma AVP. Urinary AVP concentrations (microU/ml) and excretion rates (microU/...
متن کاملSERUM CYSTATIN C AS A NEW MARKER OF GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE (GFR)
Cystatin C is a 13 KD basic protein that is a member of the cystatin superfamily of cysteine protease inhibitors. The cystatin C gene seems to be a house keeping gene, which is compatible with a stable production rate of cystatin C by most cells. This protein is freely filtered through the glomerulus and almost completely reabsorbed and catabolized by proximal tubular cells. Because of the...
